Random pictures, part 48

Something new! If you have any random pictures to contribute, please e-mail them to me at chrisinsouthkorea AT gmail DOT com. They need to have a Korean focus (travel, food, people, culture), and be at least slightly weird. Each picture should be accompanied by a 1-3 sentence description. Contributors receive full credit for their photo(s) and a link to their blog / website.

As always, random pictures are shots that didn’t make it into any other posts. Enjoy!

No idea why animals are pulling a car. Seen in Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do.

No, it didn’t work – but what’s that old saying about a stopped watch being right twice a day? Seen in a hotel in Damyang.

Apparently, the third floor of this Itaewon building offers something Washington and the UN has yet to do.

Look for the new series on Korean TV – Tom and Jerry: the text messaging years.

Pull out a random animal from the zoo. If you picked hippos to help sell soju and beer, come up and claim your prize. Seen near the Platoon Kunsthalle in Gwangju.

And now, for something completely different. Where’s a dime when you need it? :) Seen in Damyang’s central area.

The Lotus Lantern Festival called – they want their emblem back. Seen at the Platoon Kunsthalle in Gwangju.

A two-course meal, or the two attractions at this particular establishment? Seen in the Culture Complex area in Gwangju.

I’ll freely admit this is more photo manipulation than I usually use… which is why it ends up here. Original shot taken in Sokcho while visiting some old presidential villas.

Maybe the locals won’t notice the Korean letters have been installed upside down and flipped. Or maybe it’s a clever trick, designed to make everyone look at the place. Seen on Sokcho Beach.

Speed bumps ahead, or another set of curves? Seen in Sokcho.
