Queer Short: A Crimson Mark

While I don't often watch feature films, Korea luckily has a lot of queer shorts. Not only can these films be enjoyed without sacrificing the greater part of an evening, they also are available on youtube. The joys of living in the 21st century... I'll try to find these shorts and include links to the clips on this blog.

A Crimson Mark came out in 1994. As the film is just over ten minutes long, the portrayal of two politically opposed 양반 (scholars/nobility) and their affection for one another leaves much to be desired. However, the story is charming and the men are, well, hot. Also, I love Joseon dynasty men with their gats (hat) and top knots.

The translations are a bit off ... not that I could do any better. Old court Korean just doesn't translate well into English. Luckily, you don't need much to understand what the story is about.
