A friend of mine gave me the idea to do this costume. Originally I wanted to do Sailor Moon, but she talked me into doing Serenity first. It was surprisingly easy to make. Altogether I used about 6 yards of fabric, the skirt is three layers that consist of satin, lace and taffeta. The base of the top is taffeta and it’s covered in lace, sequins, pearls and ribbon. The white pearls are hand-sewn on, but I used half pearls for the circles and glued them onto a long strip of felt that was covered in lace.  Felt has a no-so-appealing texture, so I put a layer of lace to make it look softer. This was apart of a group cosplay, but we couldn’t get good photos because of the bad weather. I literally had to put everything in a garbage bag so it wouldn’t get wet. Hopefully we can do this again when it’s not raining. :)
