Job Description

The Patent Analytics Project Manager plays a key role in the delivery of the Patent Analytics Services in the region. The role is responsible for pre-sales support in local language, providing a key link between the client requirements and the service delivery.

The role requires a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property to progress sales leads to successful service delivery; managing the project scope, coordination and performing analytics for the region. The role will also provide local support for other service delivery areas.

The manager will work closely with other service groups to identify client needs and deliver against agreed service levels; be responsible for the retention and growth of client accounts and to agreed targets.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities

  • Liaise with the clients to establish requirements, create project plans and provide local support in Korean language
  • Liaise and interface predominantly with the Analytics team in India, but also all regions, to provide effective service delivery to a high standard and in agreed time frames
  • Understand the technological concepts and key features of inventions disclosed by the client and deliver a relevant solution
  • Perform prior art analysis in the relevant Asian patent and non-patent databases, and the internet to establish novelty and suitable prior art
  • Deliver searches including but not limited to validity, infringement, freedom to operate, state of art, clearance and landscape
  • Take personal ownership for ensuring processes are created in a simple and efficient manner that add commercial value and share knowledge with colleagues
  • Actively identify and maintain a continuous improvement methodology and turn these into recognised results within the department
  • Provide direction within known area of expertise. Is open to new ways of doing things. Uses creative thinking to resolve problems
  • Demonstrate project delivery in a timely and efficient manner
  • Manage risk to ensure the business is not exposed
  • Effectively collaborates with all regional teams that inspires, engages and influences others in a way that builds trust and commitment
  • Supports sales and regional teams on existing and prospective clients to deliver the right commercial solutions for the client
  • Manage clients’ expectations, solicits client feedback and implements identified improvements
  • Demonstrate efficient service delivery for new and existing clients to achieve maximum gross margin potential, revenue targets and client retention
  • Build effective business relationships with clients by providing a personalized and proactive service, as well as regular and ongoing contact

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Technical university degree in a scientific field
  • Extensive intellectual property knowledge
  • Local industry knowledge
  • Previous experience in a similar role in intellectual property analytics
  • Experience in meeting existing client needs with the ability to respond positively to changing needs that add commercial value
  • Ability to meet targets and handle a high pressure environment
  • Comprehensive project management skills
  • Fluent in Korean and English
