One of my favorite foods to eat out in Korea is shabu shabu (샤브샤브). It’s delicious, fun to eat, and even fun to say! My two favorite chain restaurants that serve this are Shabu Maxim and Coco Shabu. I would eat it all the time if it didn’t cost $20-25 a person. It’s similar to Chinese or Japanese hot pot, but has its unique differences.

Depending on what you order, it’s vegetables, noodles, seafood, and/or meat you boil yourself in an individual or communal hot pot. My favorite part is making salad rolls and then using all the dipping sauces.

The common vegetables in Korea are mushrooms, cabbage, pumpkin, and bok choy. Sometimes they include fish balls and rice cake, too.

This is the order things are cooked in: 1. vegetables, 2. meat/seafood, 3. noodles, 4. rice.

Writing this and looking at the pictures is making me want to eat it again right now. :0
