Namhae, September 6-9, 2014

We decided to go camping in Namhae for the vacation time during the Chuseok holiday. Namhae is a quaint beach town a 2-1/2 hour bus ride from Busan.

From the Busan West Bus Terminal (부산서부시외버스터미), it costs 11,900 to take the bus to Namhae (남해 시외버스 터미널). I recommend camping at Sangju Beach (상주은모래비치). There isn’t much to do or eat there, but it has facilities for camping (including bathrooms and showers in the summer). I highly suggest bringing food, but there are many marts around that sell drinks and instant ramen, etc..

To get to Sangju Beach, you can take a city bus from the bus terminal to the bus stop, 상주 정류소 슈퍼. Look at the map here for where the bus stop is. We opted for a taxi ride straight to the beach campground  for 25,000₩. Keep in mind that taxis there don’t accept credit cards so you’ll need cash.

I had fun playing on the beach and in the water. When I have time to go back, I’d prefer to rent a car so I could further explore this funny city.

Some interesting things to check out:

  • Sangju Beach and Songjeong Beach
  • Boriam Temple on Geum Mountain
  • Namhae Bridge
  • Darangee Village (경상남도 남해 가천 다랭이마을)
  • Garlic Land of Treasure Island (보물섬마늘나라)
  • American Village
  • German Village
  • Art Village
