Namdaemun Market

Ask any Asian especially Malaysian who ever visit to Korea, most of them have shopped in Namdaemun Market. Well known among residents and tourist, it comes to no surprise when this place appeared in time.com and cnngo.com.

Items listed is agreeable, according to Korea Tourism official site.
What I love here is the dirt-cheap price clothes, although it may not be as fashionable as Dongdaemun market clothes. At night, this area become more lively as street stalls become busy with hungry customers and curious tourist.

Here is my own list of things what to buy in Namdaemun Market :-

1. Souvenirs.
For souvenirs, it's quite cheap and comes in many designs.

2. Dirt cheap clothes
Clothes that's being bundle by the roadside (temporary on the road) is really cheap.
Some even cost about KRW 1,000 - 2,000 (that's USD 1 - 2) for a blouse.
Downside, no trying and sizes may be small.
You may need to check the clothes first before buying.

3. Stylish blouse for ahujumma or aunty alike.
There's a building in Namdaemun that sells clothes that cater for older / mature women.
Some people, prefer stylish loose blouse at affordable price, say about KRW 20,000 onwards.
Here they sell clothes up to 2XL Korean size (That's international size XL)
Most shops (apart from Myeong-dong and Itaewon) have no big size clothes.

4. Costume Jewelry
Brooch, Funky accessories, colorful stones, are pretty cheap here and could be bought for wholesale price.
Find for Jewel Park near exit 5, and get in at entrance 1.

5. Ginseng and seaweed.
Lot's of variety to choose from.

6. Camera.
Surprise it's not in the electronic mall area?
You may need to go further inside until you will reach the opposite side of the road, lined various camera shops. Items like second hand camera, accessories and even to repair your camera is possible.

This market is really crowded, so if you prefer to relax and sit back for food after shopping marathon, there is Shinsaegae Department store which is connected to the subway.

How to go there:

Take Line 4 to Hoehyeon station and go to exit 5.
From Exit 5, walk straight and you will get to the area.
