My Life as a Korean Guy’s Wife

I am a Filipina who is married to a Korean guy for almost 4 years now. We were introduced to each other by a common friend. We became friends, fell in love with each other, and eventually decided to tie the knot in 2011. Unlike most Koreans I know, my husband speaks English quite well. So communication is never an issue in our relationship. I admit that during our first year together as a married couple, we fought and argued with each other a lot. It’s never easy to live with someone who grew up in from another country. Both of us have different cultural backgrounds, and I think that’s the main reason why there’s always a conflict between us.

On the 29th of September 2012, I gave birth to our first-born child. We named him Ji Hoon. That was the happiest moment of our lives. He was the cutest thing ever! My husband was really happy as he held our son for the first time. He’s a proud daddy! He even thanked me for giving him a son. Oh, I was deeply moved by what he said.

We stayed in the Philippines for 3 years and 6 months before we moved to Korea last April 2, 2015. Me and my husband still have our moments of disagreements, but it wasn’t like before. Maybe we outgrew the fights we had when we were newly weds. Hahaha! Nonetheless, I love my husband and I will always be there for him through thick and thin. I will always remember the vow I made on our wedding day ~ that I will be there for him for better or for worse. Til death do we part. May God continue to bless our marriage!
