Life’s Short, Eat Dessert First.

My Grandma used to tell me this, and when I was in Osaka I totally listened.
My last night in Japan I was wondering around Osaka after checking into my hostel looking for a place to eat.  It was one of those times that there was so much selection that nothing in particular sounded good.
As I was walking down one random street, I found this little bakery tucked away.

Inside was this cool young dude who I found out is the owner and creator of all of the stores delicious treats.  I was hungry and it looked super good so I dove into vacation mode and had my dessert first.

I ended up getting a peachy champagne-y burst of goodness that I ate right at the counter since no one was around and he had no tables.  I ended up devouring that thing and completely enjoyed every bite.  It was so good that when these two women stopped and looked in the window I waved them in and tried to convince them to buy some desserts too.

It was one of those great moments you feel you really understand this guy who works so hard at this labor of love in the form of a bakery everyday, and that he’s really talented and makes delicious things and all is right and good in that moment.

If you ever go to Osaka and are near the Itachibori neighborhood ask around for it (I don’t know how I found it), because you will love it.
