Lady Gaga is equally as famous for her catchy songs as she is for her quirky yet cutting edge fashion. She’s always pushing the sartorial envelope, and counts Asia as one of her main inspirations, saying recently at a news conference, “I love Asian culture and I love all of the designers here in Asia.” Perhaps it’s her inimitable sense of style that  makes her so popular in Asia, and especially in Korea.

Fashion aside, little was known about Gaga’s other ties to Korea. In an interview on KBS show Entertainment Weekly a few weeks ago, she talked about her childhood best friend, a Korean American chef named Bo Kyung O’Connor. At the age of six, O’Connor was adopted by an American family residing in New York. While attending an all-girls private school in NY’s Upper East Side, the two were inseparable.
