Korean Food USA: Asiadog

Korean Food USA is a new series that showcases Korean and Korean-inspired eateries all around the nation.

Asiadog has definitely expanded from its once frugal beginnings in the backyard of a friend’s bar. Since 2008, it has grown to include pop-up locations at the Brooklyn Flea, Central Park Summerstage, and a restaurant in Nolita. Clearly, its hot dogs with an Asian twist have proven to be quite the success. Inspired by the principles of “good food, good friends, and good fun,” their take on one of America’s favorite foods celebrates diversity, and the flavors of the city’s multitude of Asian cuisines, from Vietnamese to Korean.

With seven unique dogs, there is a choice for everyone, from the pork-belly enthusiast to the kimchi-loving vegetarian. Another favorite is the one burger on the menu, the Korean BBQ style Bulgogi Burger. Think Angus beef burger marinated in tangy bulgogi sauce, topped with your choice of Asian slaw or kimchi (or both!), all between a bun toasted to perfection. If you’re feeling adventurous, perhaps pair it with one of Asiadog’s delicious sides, wasabi potato salad or Korean yam fries with spicy ketchup.
