I took my mom out to the Oryukdo Skywalk (오륙도 스카이워크) for her first time. I’ve been going out there even before they opened on October 18, 2013. The area has been Korea’s National Cultural Heritage Scenic Spot No. 24 since October 1, 2007! The Seungdumal (승두말) area is known as the dividing point between the East Sea and the South Sea.

It’s a seriously long bus ride out there but it’s fun to watch the view as you go from hip downtown to small businesses to ocean-view. 

The skywalk is set up over a 35-meter-high coastal cliff. Just a heads-up, it’s kind of small: a 15-meter glass bridge of 24 plates in a horseshoe shape. It’s required to wear booties over your shoes as you walk. It’s a bit difficult to see through the thick glass, but it’s an amazing view all around you with the ocean waves crashing on the rocks. On a sunny day, you’ll see Tsushima Island (Daemado) in the distance.

It’s a fun and free experience in Busan, so why not?

Hours: Summer extended hours: 9:00am - 7:00pm, Off-season hours: 9:00am - 6:00pm

Directions: From Kyungsung Univ. & Pukyong Nat'l Univ. Subway Station (line 2) exit 5, turn around upon exiting, and take bus 131 or 20. Get off at the last stop and walk ahead.
