How to Import Your Presets into Lightroom Classic

I haven’t done one of these tutorials in a while, so I thought that I would give Fleeq a go and see how well it does on the blog. Fleeq, by the way, is the software that I used to assemble this tutorial. It is just something that I am experimenting with at the moment.

With that being said, on with the tutorial! For this tutorial, I used Peter Mckinnon’s presets that I just picked up. I wanted to start with a fresh set of presets to show you the whole process from start to finish.

Press “D” to Enter the Develop Module

Once you are in the develop module, you can click on the “+” icon above your currently installed presets and then click on the “import presets” option.

Find and Unzip… Your Presets

Once you navigate to the folder with your unzipped presets, it is as simple as clicking on the folder and hitting “import” to import them into Lightroom. If there are some other files in that folder, then just select all of the xmp files and click “import” again. The folder name will appear as the name of the preset collection.

Rename It… If You Want

Finally, if you want to rename your preset collection, then right-click the name of the collection. Then choose “rename” and type in your desired name. After you hit “enter” the name will be immediately changed.

That is It! You are done! I know that this is easy but it is also something that a number of people struggle with. There are also other ways to do it. Peter McKinnon has his own way of importing them as well. I find that this way is much simpler as you just need to have your presets ready and then click on them, rather than trying to navigate to folders in submenus and dragging and dropping stuff then restarting Lightroom and whatnot.

If you want to check out Peter Mckinnon’s presets click here. I am not an affiliate but I thought you might want to check them out.
