Honey-Garlic Teriyaki Sauce

This homemade teriyaki sauce has a balance of sweet and salty.  It has a thick syrupy consistency, unlike some store-bought kinds that are thin like soy sauce.  It is perfect as a marinade or as a dipping sauce.  I like to serve this sauce with  Steamed Mandu & Veggies (Korean dumplings).

Honey-Garlic Teriyaki Sauce

Servings: 16

-3/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium preferred)

-3/4 cup rice wine

-1/3 cup brown sugar

-2 Tbls honey

-1 Tbls soybean paste

-1 Tbls sesame oil

-5-6 cloves garlic, chopped into 4ths

-1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

-1  1/2 Tbls corn starch

Directions:

1. Put all the ingredients in a pan.  Simmer gently on medium-low heat until the mixture thickens, about 8-10 minutes.  Remove from heat, strain out the large chunks of garlic and pour into a glass storage container.  Use as needed.
