It’s the night before NaNoWriMo begins and although I should probably be making outlines and more character spreadsheets (yes there is a spreadsheet involved), I am instead watching TV and talking about Halloween.
Our Halloween Party was last Friday and not only did we have an adorable song competition, we also had a whole morning of awesome events.
What made the day even better was that absolutely everyone was in costume. It was quite obvious that the best teacher costumes went to Barbara and Mike.
All the kids looked adorable and there was a bit of a “Superhero and Princess” theme. We ended up having 5 Spidermen (would it be considered Spidermen?) and 6 Snow Whites.
My favorite part of our activities was probably the Haunted House (even though I didn’t get to scare anyone), but probably most of the kids would vote for the inflated bounce house was the best part… and all the candy of course. I had to laugh when I found out that some of my toughest boys – the oldest in the school were too afraid to go in and the little 5-year-old girls couldn’t wait to go. We had some tears, which I think means we did it right.
Ladybug Lucy rocked one of the few non-Princess costumes for the girls, and instead had a costume her Mom made which is awesome because I LOVE when people make their costumes. I went as Wednesday Addams, but really I just looked quasi-Gothic.
I was assigned the “Lollipop Ghost” room. I was so proud that Clara gave her ghost face a mustache. At least I know I’ve taught them some important lessons this year- like mustaches are cool.
Even though it was hard to persuade them to not eat all their candy in one go, it was very cute, and tiring. And after the morning ruckus, the whole rest of the day was entirely normal…
Well, kind of.
