Had a quick weekend trip to Geoje (거제시). Rounded out Saturday finding Gojura Beach, which was a bit foggy but the potential beauty was obvious. Could definitely imagine laying out there on a sunny day. A long ride on bus 22 for 1,200₩ from the bus terminal will take you out there.

After a bit of bus waiting, a few headaches and laughs, we found ourselves having Halal food at Usmania in Okpo (located up the stairs from Lotteria). The owner was more than gracious and the food was the perfect end for the first day of a spontaneous and ill-planned trip.

Tricked myself into taking a hike to the abandoned amusement park, Okpo Land on Sunday. Just keep asking random Koreans where it is and walk up a long hill, and you will get there. Wish I could give better directions, but they would be useless compared to those time-tested instructions.

After some internet searching, it seems as if there was at least one death that occurred at the park and instead of paying out, the park closed, leaving everything the way it was. Mother nature has taken its toll. If it wasn’t such a nice day, the park would have been a lot creepier.

The Geoje trip was short and bittersweet. It reminds me of how much more I wish I could see of Korea, but every day I am reminded of how much my heart longs to be home at this time. Geoje, I will see you again.
