to fly

to fly is the closest thing to outer space i will reach

i think of that when i am thousands of feet in the air

surrounded by the clouds

lightheaded

anxious

much like i imagine every cosmonaut, astronaut alike felt

After a few trips across the Pacific Ocean, I have learned the comforts I require and the adaptations to the 14 hour flight.

I don’t risk getting sick.

I load up on vitamins, oranges, and thanks to Asia I don’t feel shy about wearing the anti-germ mask.

Once you reach the continental US, it is amusing the comments made about the ninja mask.

A small child asks me if I am a doctor. I reply no, and with a small laugh. She says, “really, cause you look like one!”

Also the bit of caution people use around me while I am wearing it.

I keep myself busy with the plane movies, podcasts, reading, and writing about my surroundings.

Things change once you take a step out of routine and travel.

The world comes into focus while you are in the air.

You start to understanding the system of maps.

You realize that everything is much more intricate.

to fly:

something i crave

something i love
