The fountain at Dadaepo Beach

Dadaepo Beach is far, far away, but if you get there, you won’t be disappointed. It’s in the process of being torn up and generally made nicer, so it has a little less ‘landscaped’ feel than the other beaches. That shouldn’t be a problem, though; you can still have a great beach day there.

The area surrounding Dadaepo beach is underdeveloped for a beach area. Sure, lots of people LIVE there, but you won’t find the hotels and ritzy stuff that you will at some of the other beaches. This makes Dadaepo an awesome, ‘faraway’ place to go. You can still buy kites, still buy beer, still get fried chicken from a guy walking around the beach, and still hang out. My friends and I found that people in Dadaepo aren’t necessarily used to seeing foreigners so much, so prepare to be approached more cautiously than normal or ‘hello-bombed’ a little more by giggling high-schoolers than you would at other beaches.

If you plan to spend the night there, walk up the main road that heads north from the east side of the beach. There are some motels within that mile from the beach on up the road.

DIRECTIONS: (It’ll take about an hour from Nampo station. Easiest is probably from Daeti station)

From Nampo station (orange line 1): Go out exit 8, then walk down the street and catch bus 11. Ride for a little more than an hour, and get off at the DaeU Apt. stop in Dadaepo. Walk down the hill a little, and you’ll see the beach straight ahead.

From Daeti station (orange line 1): Go out exit 1, then take EITHER bus 96 OR 1000 to DaeU Apt. This stop will be right on the main road. The beach is across the street.

From Dangri station (orange line 1: Go out exit 1, and take bus 2 to “Dadae Hae-su-youk-jang”, and walk south down the street (the way the bus is facing) till you get to the beach. This way is a bit longer, though.
