Busan Cinematheque Honors Hollywood Legend Billy Wilder

BILLY WILDER RETROSPECTIVE

Where: Busan Cinematheque

When: February 5 – 28

Known for his snappy dialogue and carefully constructed plots, Billy Wilder always thought of himself first-and-foremost as a writer. It was only because he disliked having his words changed that he went on to direct his own scripts. And thus, Wilder became one of the most successful filmmakers of the golden age of Hollywood, working with virtually every star of the era, winning a half-dozen Oscars, and securing a prestigious place for himself in the history of cinema. The Busan cinematheque will screen 15 of his movies throughout February, with samples that span over his entire career and showcase his ability to master different genres.
