Around Christmas, I like to make snow globes with my students. It’s easy to find different kinds of glass containers. You can glue figurines to the inside of the lid of the jar, but I like to laminate pictures of the students. Here are the steps to making your own:

  1. Place a laminated item inside the jar.
  2. Pour water into the jar. Allow room for glitter. You can add more water later.
  3. Add about a dash of glycerin. The glycerin will allow your glitter or “snow” to fall down more slowly.
  4. Pour in glitter. Add more water if you want to at this point, so you don’t have any air bubbles.
  5. Seal the lid with a glue gun. I like to decorate it by painting the lids and tying a ribbon around the top.

As much as I try to “seal” it, I still pack the snow globes in a plastic bag for the children to take home in.
