This year's performance of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" will be performed on Sunday February 27, 7:30pm at Vinyl Underground. Doors open at 6:30.

Our first performance in 2010, despite being assembled with minimal cast and resources at last minute, was a raging success which raised 1.6 million won. This year cast and crew have been preparing for weeks and are are excited for Busan to experience this widely celebrated, enlightening and evocative piece of theater.

We hope that our performance will inspire donations to top last year's success. All proceeds go to the Sae-Gil Welfare Corporation and the official Vagina Monologues chosen spotlight charity, The Women and Girls of Haiti. We keep not a cent for ourselves, so know that your donations truly will have an impact on the lives of women living in this city or those affected by the tragedies in Haiti.

As teachers by trade we cannot charge for our performance, therefore there is a recommended donation of 10,000 won at the door. Also gladly accepted are any “gently-used” clothing, spare toiletries or non-perishable food items you have lying around are more than welcome. There will be donation boxes set up at Vinyl Underground that evening as well as at Eva’s, where an after party will be held.

The Sae-Gil Welfare Corporation provides shelter and job-training for women who have been abused physically, sexually and emotionally. The corporation consists of a domestic violence shelter, a sexual violence shelter, a long-term stay shelter as well as group homes. Due to changes in government funding, the shelter’s budget for food has been reduced drastically. Thus, the food budget for 2011 has already been exhausted.

The shelter desperately needs non-perishable food items as well as toiletries including feminine products.
