Foreign Food Mart on "Texas Street" and Halal ingredients

Just picked up a glossy brochure fluttering around our campus. It advertises a new food-mart across from the Pusan Train Station on the foreign shopping street.

To Quote:

Re: Foreign Food Mart on "Texas Street" and Halal ingredients

I stopped by to check it out. The store is in the "China Town" end of "Texas Street".

Actually, there is very little stored in the store.

I liked the way the frozen food/meat was displayed in an upright freezer with a clear front, prominently labeled in English and Korean. I bought a kilo of surloin lamb meat for 23,000 and it is very tender meat.

However, if you go to Sasang and shop at Ali Malek's Asia Mart, or one of the other stores, you will get similar prices but a MUCH larger variety of products, including a good variety of dried legumes, beans, and such.. Lots of spices and canned goods from various countries.

This store needs time to develop itself.

Just as an update to those directions once you exit Sasang station you can now just follow the new overhead light rail track that goes to the airport (west direction). That will take you directly to E-Mart, and then take a right on the road that runs to the side of E-Mart. There are two or three on that road (there seems to be one closed and a new one opened everytime I go there!) and the original Asia Mart is the first right after the others.

Incidentally I noticed that one of them is now selling Lays Salt & Vinegar crisps!

Re: Foreign Food Mart on "Texas Street" and Halal ingredients

i found the new halal mart on texas street to be a little understocked too. nothing beats the sasang marts i guess. might have to give texas street another chance though, once they get going. about to RUN to sasang for the salt and vinegar chips though-thanks for that tidbit!

Re: Foreign Food Mart on "Texas Street" and Halal ingredients

Hey Guys... Are you sure about Waqas international Food because Last time when I went there it was closed and I am sure it was not Monday.. even that shop was cleaned... I hope its open again.... because the price on that shop was really nice and compare to any other asian mart it was the cheapest.. ..

For your information I would like to add another Information regarding Asia mart. I am really not satisfy with Asia mart in Sasang because most of the food specially snacks.. already expired there.. please check the expirey date before you buy..

If you know Shabana Indian restaurant at Pusan National University I would like to ask you go there once. At first floor of that restaurant they opend one store so you can find all items in cheapest price. I believe I can bet on Price from that store as well as on quality. Please take a look whenever you got the chance to go there....... and believe by yourself too :)
