breakfast food! bacon pancakes eggs...
Printer-friendly version
Know of any restaurants that serve breakfast akin to the likes of Wafflehouse or IHOP?  I love the bibimbap, but I need that American spread! Any suggestions would be nice!

Re: breakfast food! bacon/pancakes/eggs...

Yeah, there are a few places.  There are Breeze Burns all over Busan, it has a pretty decent brunch set.  Wolfhound in Haeundae has an okay all-day breakfast.  I think the best is the Pancakes in Seomyeon.  We've got some maps and stuff on our website.  Here's a link to the Pancakes.

Hope this helps!

Evas in Kyungsung serves several variations on an all day breakfast. Not bad, at least she uses the decent Costco American bacon, unlike Breeze Burns who seem to use the super thin Korean style bacon.

I also think that ONO in Haeundae, which is just by Marine City, has a breakfast.

What they all lack though is a good ol' British style sausage. Probably because they aren't really available here.

breeze burns bites. you think it is good the first couple of times because it is some sort of bacon and eggs but after you realize it was not that good. sadly, the best breakfast is at the novotel or something like that. costs a fortune though. geckos in haeundae has breakfast but it is grossly over priced to-like over 10 000WON for two pancakes. it does not even include coffee but they do serve breakfast. nice in the summer to sit out and eat something like that but i wish the prices were more reasonable. oh, and the fruit on top of the pancakes are frozen. bon appetit.

The best American breakfast in Busan is the one I cook myself!

I was going to say the same Nodolan! Although, of course, mine is the best English breakfast.  Although the bacon and sausage choices here still don't make it as good as I would like.

Busan Breakfast Breakdown

Breeze Burns: About 10,500 won. Coffee and juice and included in this price. The sausages are more like mini hotdogs but dipped in ketchup are decent. The bacon is typical, fatty bacon but luckily not burnt! Never tried the ham as I imagine it's probably more like Spam. You can choose between a hashbrown (like what you get at McD's) potato wedges or a baked potato. Eggs can be scrambled or fried, they will usually cook fried eggs over hard. 2 slices of bread, served with butter and strawberry jam. There is usually a sad looking tomato wedge accompanied by some iceberg lettuce with balsamic dressing. 1/4 of a waffle with a tbsp of maple syrup. This is the best price for the most items, I love that drinks are included, although their orange juice isn't as good as it used to be...maybe the other day was just a fluke? Breeze Burns are located EVERYWHERE, double bonus!! But I believe they stop serving brunch at 4 on the weekends.

Wolfhound: 11-13,000 won. Two different options, one is standard and the other has extra eggs and meat. You can also customize and add extra items for a price. I don't remember a drink being included in the price but according to the website you can now get coffee or tea. Breakfast options, 2 eggs cooked any style (I recommend against poached because they don't do it very well) fried eggs over easy is perfect...sunny side up was way too runny for me. They will also do them scrambled. Sausages are tasty and have an interesting spice flavor, I think they make these from scratch. Bacon was ok. Hashbrown is just like the above mentioned. 2 slices of toast with baked beans and fried tomato. This breakfast is my favorite in town because the eggs are always perfect and I like the sausages and beans. Downside, Wolfhound only has one location: Haeundae. Upside, Wolfhound serves this breakfast ALL DAY.

Gecko's: I had Gecko's brunch set quite a while ago and I remember it being pretty much equal to Breeze Burns except a little pricier. Coffee is included, but I had to pay extra to have iced coffee. Now, I've worked in cafes before and I will tell you I never quite figured out why iced coffee costs more, maybe plastic cups are more expensive than paper cups? Or are you paying for the ice itself? Anyway, the only stand out from the Gecko's breakfast was it had a nice, little side salad with actual greens instead of pale iceberg leaves. Gecko's has the best atmosphere, assuming the weather is nice and you're lucky enough to snag seating outside and enjoy the ocean breeze. I don't remember the service being very speedy or consistent here, however. There is only one location, Pale de CZ on Haeundae Beach.
