English may not be the best but the vet seems to speak enough english and I have been very impressed with the service.

English speaking vet near Guseo-dong The place I go to is in Guseo Anonymous
The place I go to is in Guseo 2 dong and it is near Dusil subway stop. You come out exit 1 and there should be a McDonald's. If there isn't, find the subway exit that has a McDonalds. Go straight up the hill. You will come to a stairway. Go up the stairway, and cross the road. Once across, turn left and go straight. the vet is on that side of the road.. maybe a block/block and a half. The...

Looking for Hummus or Tahini Nampo~Sasang Anonymous
Tenorman, The best way to get from Yeongdo-Sasang is probably the subway on the weekends, unless you go early morning. You can take the 126 local bus which leaves from one of the bus stops along the main road that bisects PIFF arcade and Jagalchi Market, make sure you take it from the PIFF side of the street, I think the stop is near Starbucks-have a wander about to find it, but it's debatable...

Looking for Hummus or Tahini Thanks! How do I get there! Tenorman
Thanks for the reply!! How do I get there from Yeongdo (near 75 Park)? I can take the subway from Nampo-dong to Seomyeon to Sasang. Is there a better route or a bus? I love Middle-Eastern and Greek Food. To be able to make it (or try to) again really makes me very happy. Best Regards, Tenorman

Looking for Hummus or Tahini Tahini and chickpeas Anonymous
Hey you can get tahini and chickpeas in Sasang at Asia Mart, it's near the indian restaurant called Sangam. Just ask the owner of Sangam if you can't find it, his wife runs the store and they both speak excellent English. Sangam is right beside E-Mart. That's where I buy all my tahini, chickpeas, cilantro, and pitas.

English Speaking Dermatologist - NEEDED!!! Please Help! If Dr.Choi doesn't work out Anonymous
If Dr.Choi doesn't work out for some reason, you can also try Dr.Park -- Yeonsan-dong subway, exit 16. Right outside of the exit, the building on your right-hand side, 4th (or 5th?) floor, called Su Clinic (Su Pi Bu Gwa in Korean). He speaks English very well and is a great guy to boot! Good luck!

Why?!?!?! - Pet Adoption And remember... sub
...that if you decide to get a pet and want to take it back home with you, traveling with one can be expensive/troublesome; especially if you'd like to visit some places on the way home! I agree with the original poster, it's pretty unfair to the animal and pretty selfish on your behalf if you plan to leave your pet behind. You could have a valid reason though, but it's always a good idea to...

Why?!?!?! - Pet Adoption there are many ways to not be lonely... Anonymous
a pet is a commitment no matter what part of the world you are in...if you have no intention of keeping the pet then don't buy it. My cat is my baby. I paid for her to come with me to Korea and i will pay for her to go whereever I go after Korea. I cannot imagine my life without my cat. Nor can I imagine how someone can part with their pet so casually. If you're lonely, pay someone to keep...

Do the oki-dukkboki Don't give up yet! Anonymous
Before you give up on deokboggi completely, please please please go to the deokboggi restaurant in Nampodong. From the main road, go straight through the Nampo Book Store/Art Valley building to the street on the other side. Turn left. It's a few shops down on your right. It has a bright orange sign with a cartoon of the owner holding a pot of deokboggi. Order deokboggi with extra ramyan (if...

Why?!?!?! - Pet Adoption I agree mostly, it's not very Anonymous
I agree mostly, it's not very thoughtful to purchase a pet when you know you will have to find a home for it when you leave. I would love to have a pet to keep me company around the home, but it would do my head-in to have to leave it here when I complete my time in the trenches, not knowing whether 'Tom or Jerry' will be all right. That said, let's not forget some people find abandoned animals,...

Why?!?!?! - Pet Adoption I agree, its not really fair kristindanks27
I agree, its not really fair to the animals. Cats and dogs can become very attached to their owners and its not easy for them to have to leave after a short while and end up with someone else.

Where can you purchase international return postage? PrePaid Postage Anonymous
I had experience w/ the Consulate in Chicago. They would mail my passport back to me if I had an account with UPS or FedEx. They could just use the account no. and print out the shipping label. See if Atlanta has the same.

I Am a Fat Expat. Hear Me Chew. Why have you given up? sinfonian
"it follows that female expats tend to be fat, loud, opinionated, ugly, bitches who are completely unmarriable."

What are you trying to prove here? You're only reinforcing the stereotype.

"Oh, I just stopped trying."

Why have you given up? This only reinforces the lazy expat stereotype. You mentioned many expat women are fat. In Korea, being fat is associated...

Waves in Haeundae Beach nice to see response! Anonymous
Nice that others have a little to say! Most say I'm an ungrateful "foreigner" and should learn to adapt to Asia. Well, been in Asia for 8 years. Anyway, wish the people in charge would give more credit to people with abilities. Most foreigners CAN swim, with just the opposite being Asians. But when they don't even let them in ankle deep water!! If I never hear another whistle it will be too...

Waves in Haeundae Beach waves last week dcross

Yeah, I think the most frustrating thing about the surfing ban is the arbitrary enforcement and just the unreasonable  and unflexible enforcers. We surfed good mipo on sunday and even gwangali was looking fun.  With the growing popularity (take a look at the out of control "surf zone" at songjeong) maybe we can come up with a solution or compromise.  Why not do what...

Waves in Haeundae Beach surfing allowed, only for the early birds mattytown

Swimming was banned all day but surfing and body boarding was allowed before 9AM. The waves were all time, perfect swell window.  Im still on cloud 9.  Being from San Diego I am starving for a decent wave in this city.  I got my fill, pretty much had my pick of every set.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised that Koreans can't surf when the waves are good. ...
