Is it just me, or was this post (like my reply) worhtless?

  2. Swearing in public
  3. Fornicating in public areas
  4. Disrespecting others by telling fibs to others,

At first I thought you were refering to what Korean men do everyday...

Is Busan a good place to live?! Re: Is Busan a good place to live?! tigreye2000

Busan is a great place to live! Especially if you like being near the sea. There is a great deal of live music to be had, several hot spots for night life and foreign food, some international markets, and lovely weather.

As far as the schools go, it's the same story in every city. Just do your research on what ever school before you sign their contract, be smart about knowing what's out...

Looking for a language exchange program or group Re: Looking for a language exchange program or group tigreye2000

Well, I "teach" there and you're right about one thing. The students do pay for their membership but that's because they don't exchange, just learn. The membership gets them any of the topic study groups (1 hr per language per day) as well as their premium study which would not be taught by you. (The premium teachers are staff, some Koreans and some NET's.)

I'm scheduled for the...

Looking for a language exchange program or group Re: Looking for a language exchange program or group Chambertin

When I looked at that it seemed they wanted us to sign up as a "teacher" with a set schedule and the other people "students" pay a good deal to hang out "learn: form us.

It might be ok, but I dont need a second "job" just a group of people to hang out with.

I might also be mistaken, but thats my impression.

question!! - foreigner product preferences Re: question!! - foreigner product preferences Sweatcold

Yes, the "lean" years of the past are pretty much gone.  Between Texas Street, Kukje Market, Ebay, Amazon, Gmarket, the Sasang Asia Markets, Costco, the Namcheon Mega Mart, etc., I can get just about anything I need either online or in town.

I'd be interested in lasagna noodles that didn't cost 9,000 won a box as they do now.  Home Plus raised the price of theirs about 100% in...

New Indian Restaurant in Haeundae Re: New Indian Restaurant in Haeundae megrush
She is right! This place is really good and when you are inside- it looks like you are actually in India. The inside is a must see! The food as well is really good! The service is great too! The workers speak perfect English- they are from Nepal. I think this place is better than Ganga all around to be honest!

question!! - foreigner product preferences Re: question!! - foreigner product preferences Paul Gaasenbeek

You can buy deodorant, toothpaste, oatmeal... on line these days. I get everything I need on line Even Homeplus now is selling more and more foreign products and of course COSTCO is here so...

And would this even be legal or is it an under the table sort of thing (nothing against that by the way)? Korea has a very closed economy and any foreign goods (companies) coming in have to pay...

question!! - foreigner product preferences Re: question!! - foreigner product preferences DrNugu

Yes, it's not that hard to get most stuff here these days. Food can be a problem, but you're not interested in food, so...

maybe deodorant/antiperspirant, western-sized and proportioned clothes.

Sorry, but I think your buddy missed the boat on making a service for hard to find items for foreigners. Internet shopping and COSTCO (for food) have changed everything.

The...

question!! - foreigner product preferences Re: question!! - foreigner product preferences mattsid
In my opinion there isn't that much that isn't available here now, although sometimes you have to know where to find it, or it's of an inferior quality or at an exorbitant price compared to back home.

Cheeses, sour cream, cheese, refried beans and more cheese.

Did I mention cheese? The thing is I don't buy nor do any of my friends buy the fancy cheeses that I can't pronounce.I got friends in low places you know!!

I do though go out of my way once a month(not on a weekend) and drive to Busan to get the standard cheddar cheese that is $10 a brick...

Looking for a language exchange program or group Re: Looking for a language exchange program or group Chambertin

My old apartment in Gunsan.  I so very miss having a place large enough to entertain a crowd of 15 or more people with ease.

Joking aside, I have no idea yet.  Likely someplace cheap to hang out, or even free.  I'm going to be doing some heavy exploring this weekend and over Chuseok.  Definatly near one of the major subway stations though.

Suggestions are...

Looking for a language exchange program or group Re: Looking for a language exchange program or group Chambertin

I would like to know of any structured groups too. Not necessarily formal classes, just groups that get together on a set schedule.  I had a group in college that was very sucessfull and we had one that lasted a few months in Gunsan also.

I speak English and Japanese and am trying to learn Korean.  I'd be interested in teaching either and having someplace to practice...

F2B visa- ERR? Re: F2B visa- ERR? Chambertin

Not sure about who would be getting an F2B.

They did just change it so that E21 is private academy and E22 is public school.  So that could be it, but no idea.

Fixed the mistake (I put F21 etc). However for an F2b you have to be an unmarried dependant of a Korean Permanent Resident under 21, so unless you are a G-Pyo K-Pyo, unlikely.  Even then I doubt you...

Pay as u go phones Re: Pay as u go phones Chambertin

Quote: "When your alien registration is up, you can't use your phone."

This is most certianly not true with the OZ pay as you go phones.  They dont care about the regristration time, you pay you get time.  It does not go on "hold" after your ARC expires.  I have my old one and it ran out of time while I was back in the US and I charged it up just like normal in a...

PC - political correctness and the stay at home types who wont buy , nor chip in to a bar tab, meal, etc. Yes, it's a rant, mainly for fun. Was kinda perturbed about the guy who buys 10,000 credit every other month, and lets others call him, on their dime.It made me think about other silly things.Actually, I'm far from perfect, but I make an effort to fit into my surroundings....

Where can I get posters and prints in Busan? Re: Where can I get posters and prints in Busan? mattsid

Try art street in Nampodong. It's on the street that runs between Gukje market.

Another good place that sells prints is the modern art museum across from Bexco. I am pretty sure they have the usual clichéd prints of Van Gogh and Monet etc, but I think they also sell prints by Korean and other Asian artists. They also have original works for sale if you have the cash. I think...

A polite request Re: A polite request Chambertin

You meet some darn strange people.

Also some of them just dont make any sense.  Can we have a slang neutral version-

How does bringing a PC with you or being cheap at home hurt any reputation-

Typical rant with some strange offshoots.
