Receive Top International News Stories with ISC’s Monthly World Current Report

The International Strategy Center offers a monthly World Current Report, which offers an in depth analysis of the world’s top stories of the month. January’s report features detailed articles on issues such as the Korean rail strike, the WTO Ministerial Meeting in Bali and COP 19 meeting in Warsaw, student protests in the UK, land grabs in Papua New Guinea, the Honduras election, the NSA, and much more- from every continent. The World Current Report focuses on issues that are not reported by mainstream media outlets and is therefore an excellent way to stay informed on under-reported news and under-represented peoples.

To receive the monthly World Current Report, we ask that you become a member. By doing so, you will be supporting the ISC as they continue to conduct research and workshops, write reports and articles, and work for social progress.

In solidarity!

battered but Unbroken – a Poem

by Kellyn Gross

being battered but Unbroken

being battered but Unbroken is presence

standing at the squat pedestal of bygone King Sejong

standing on two feet in defiance of police protecting the Stars and Stripes

while some are wheelchair-bound

affirming that you don’t need to be able to stand

to stand for something

where badged spokesmen warn through megaphones to let bygones be bygones

under an altar of 300 Korean martyrs to the cause of social justice

their captured smiles in the muggy heat

burnt incense and sobs breaking silence
