Scribbles in Chinatown – Kuala Lumpur Street Art

This is downtown Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur

It’s unbearably humid, incredibly loud, packed with clueless tourists and avaricious swindlers, plus the putrid odours that waft through the air are a bit much…

Not pictured: Crowds, touts, putrid smells, traffic, or much of any interested at all… Probably because this was taken bloody early in the morning

Music + Art + Cocktails at Mixture Experiment’s MADCUBE Show

Today I have a really great cocktail bar to share with you nestled down the side streets of Itaewon!  If you are a fan of art, graffiti, rap, skateboarding, and Seoul’s underground scene you will really enjoy the awesome and creative space of  Mixture Experiment!

Pretty Graffiti of Hapjeong

The Hapjeong is an awesome artsy quiet area area just one stop before busy Hongdae. This area has a unique feeling and some amazing small shops for people with more colorful tastes in fashion plus a slew of cozy cafes! Adding to the setting of Hapjeong is streets and corners painted with amazing graffiti which is actually starting to outshine the work found at Hongdae.

What happened last night…

Most bus stops around schools have paintings on the wall of kids playing or cute animals.  This one is around 신대방 station and had a bunch of boys playing old games like marbles and.. er…this just looks kinda wrong. Human Centipede?

Gangchon Station – 강촌역

The iconic and now disused Gangchon Station in Gangwon-do Korea, the destination of choice for weekending university students for decades. This train station was the arrival and departure point for many of these alcohol fueled weekends. Now disused and empty, the station stands waiting for who know’s what will happen to it next.

Gangchon has a special place in the memory of many, if not every, university student to have studied in Seoul. For decades the small town was the destination of choice for university students when they took the weekend excursions, either with friends or on faculty MT, or training weekends.

Graffiti in Busan: For the People

It's here and there around town, sometimes hidden on the roofs of buildings or on the back alley walls, but along the 1 km stretch heading north from the Oncheonjeong subway station, you can see the best in Korean graffiti. Artist, Britt Kee Irvin, talked to some of the artists living on the wall including the most renowned, K2.

BUSAN, South Korea -- As a former resident artist at Agit Indie Space in Busan, I have been fortunate to meet some extremely talented graffiti ‘writers.’ This is the title by which they are known in Korea, where a subculture of dedicated writers has existed for over 20 years.
