California

Human Gutterballing

by Pablo Harris

“Damn, man, you’re still here?”

“Hey.”

“Don’t you have a bed? A house? I know you do. Why don’t you try and visit it sometime? I mean, shit man, you know you’re welcome here but sometimes, I just want to open the door, come home from work, walk into my place, and not have this lazy fuck sleeping, crop-dusting on my couch. So you just been laying around, dropping ass in here all day? Open a window or something, man.”

“Yeah, uh, sorry.”

“Do you even remember last night?”

“Most I think. Not everything.”

“So, what do you remember?”

Los Angeles and Me

Being grown and bred from LA, I was exposed to gangsters, hippies, drugs, etc.  America’s good at exposing these things and frankly, I loved it.  Because it definitely has made me who I am today.

The first time I heard California Girls by Katy Perry somewhere in Seoul, I started screaming out of joy and started dancing!  It’s just something CA girls do, and I know other girls do it to.

Throughout my time in college, I was an environmentally conscious person, smoked weed, wore no shoes to class, and embraced being a lover of all things.  I bought some decals and cut out huge peace symbols and stuck them on my car.

I remember smoking weed with a friend while we were sitting on the grass out of an apple.

San Diego in pictures

San Diego, CA. is a beautiful city on the west coast of the States. Alicia and I were fortunate enough to spend a week there with the generosity and hospitality of her family (Paul, Ginnie and Anna). We stayed just outside of Balboa Park, home to the San Diego Zoo, botanical gardens and numerous museums and restaurants.

Beaches, nature and wildlife were all in abundance around the second largest city in California. The sun was always shining, people were positive and full of vigour.

Below are some of our favourite moments on film. You can find the rest here.

Six Weeks, Nine States: Aussie on the Road in the US, 2012

Post image for Six Weeks, Nine States: Aussie on the Road in the US, 2012

It’s now 34 days until I touch down in the US of A and damned if time isn’t flying along. I’ve started mailing out media packs and getting in touch with hostels to arrange accommodation, but it feels like there’s entirely too much to do before my epic tour of the USA gets underway.
