Looking Up

You come to Korea from where I’m from and you can’t stop looking up. Always up. At the sky without so many rain clouds, at the trees forever in a constant pattern of change, and at the buildings which stretch above everything I’ve ever known. It takes a lot of concrete and steel to make a megalith as complete as the Korean urban space, and event then it never seems complete. There is always some mason tapping away at some finer piece chiselling another groove in the pursuit of perfection.

Finding Haenggung Road

The traffic on the way in was as hectic as expected for a Saturday afternoon. We eventually managed to park the car, and then we wandered out into the afternoon.

In front of the old palace that sat in the centre of the city fortress, stalls had been set up for some occasion that were mostly selling snacks and bric-a-brac, or were flaunting some flyers for some form of a healthier lifestyle. We picked our way through it, stretching our necks to see what all the fuss was over at certain stalls and helping ourselves to free samples, but all the time veering to the shadier side of aisles in between the lines of white canopied stalls.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Urban

We were walking down the streets in Manhattan, NY. It was like one of those iconic moments where your camera takes a picture on its own. Although I have only been to NY twice, whereas my husband was brought up on the Island… I find it as fascinating as most! My mind imagines these crazy stories of the people and night life that takes place in the city.

How did this guitar get here? Was it a love serenade gone bad? Or time for an upgrade? Was it a dream made, maybe a small town girl like Coyote Ugly, finally made it in the city and traded in her old model in?

The Streets of Daeyeon-Dong

Cheap Hostels in Busan

A narrow section of streets in the central Busan of Daeyeon separate Kyungsung University from Pukyong University. Perhaps it’s unsurprising that this neighborhood, packed full of students and the establishments which cater to them, is among the most exciting in the city.

Highrise Farming

Up here on the twentieth floor, myself and Herself are quite fond of the daily dose of sunlight we are lucky enough to be provided with, not to mention the all too frequent magnificent sunsets, a few of I’ve catalogued for your viewing pleasure:
