Passport Supersized

As we prepped for our next trip at the end of the month I realized that I was running into an issue. My passport was about out of space which could in fact cause an issue. Having less than 4 pages could stop me from traveling in or out of the country and while being stuck on the shores of Boracay seems like a plan to me, Nicole, Eunee and the Baby-to-be thought otherwise.

superpowers.

Ironically, while catching up on some less than happy news this morning online, I stumbled upon a clip from last years TED conference given by Ron Gutman on the hidden powers of smiling. I needed something more positive so I watched and was very interested in what smile studies have revealed about this hidden superpower we all possess. If you need a reason to tap into your powers today I think its worth a watch……

Costco Busan!

There was a time in my life where the thought of making a day trip to Costco would have been met with a laugh and a face smack. But, those days are gone….long gone…so gone in fact that Nicole and I actually left a beach party early just so we knew we would have enough time to slowly peruse each and every aisle of the wholesale shopping uberstore.

Located not far from centum city but in a very odd backstreet part of town, the Costco logo drew nearer to us on our cabby’s gps and so did our excitement…no really, its not fluff, we were amped. Look, i’m legit amped here.

Ok, this has gotta be my last response to the many comments from this sprawling series  (one, two, three, four, five) of posts on ranking US allies. Thanks for all the interest. Who knew Canada was so interesting or Canadians so passionate?

Say Ron Paul Won…Which US Allies would get Retrenched? (2) Japan?

retrenchment graph

Here is part one where argued that America’s 8 most important allies are, in order: Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Israel, and South Korea.

I argued for 3 quick-and-dirty reasons for that ranking, but I got some criticism on these in the first post, so here is some elaboration :

Six Weeks, Nine States: Aussie on the Road in the US, 2012

Post image for Six Weeks, Nine States: Aussie on the Road in the US, 2012

It’s now 34 days until I touch down in the US of A and damned if time isn’t flying along. I’ve started mailing out media packs and getting in touch with hostels to arrange accommodation, but it feels like there’s entirely too much to do before my epic tour of the USA gets underway.

Would Ron Paul Retrench the US from Korea?
