While up in Seoul, we had the great idea to hike up Mt. Ansan at 5 am or so. This meant getting up at about 4 am and catching a taxi to the mountain to meet up with Simon Bond and the legendary Robert Koehler. Robert knows pretty much everything there is to know about Korea and especially Seoul. He was kind enough to take us up to the top despite the early rise and the lack lustre sunrise that morning.

Seoul Photo & Imaging Show 2013

Being a part of a huge event where pretty much everyone around you is a photographer in one way or another is an intense time. This year I was invited to attend as a member of the “press” which basically meant that I got a free pass and… well that was about it. Not that I am complaining but it was a little unimpressed after jumping on the KTX from Ulsan at 5:22 am to hit Seoul and then an hour on the Subway to get to COEX to get a plastic badge after the emails about being a “VIP blogger”

N. Korea Gangsterdom

Photo taken from Yonhap News Agency

It’s always a treat when I’m able to get breaking news from Facebook.

Looks like North Korea has gone gangster again as local news organizations are reporting that Kim Jong Il and his cronies have fired  rounds of artillery onto the S. Korean Island of Yeonpueong near the highly disputed border.

According to S. Korea’s YTN television, at least two people have been injured, with one S. Korean soldier having been killed.

Suwon's Hwaseong fortress - or - take that, Robert Koehler!

Robert Koehler inspires me. His recently-started travelog features some gorgeous photos of some well-known Korean destinations give me something to work toward. Definitely a source of travel ideas if you're looking for some more places to check out. Oh, and the Marmot's Hole has me beat on Alexa's web-ranking service (one of the only K-blogs that I've seen in the top 50,000)

Although my evening was cut short by a malfunctioning camera, I was able to get a few shots of Hwaseong Fortress at night. Since I've already covered the area, it's time to stop typing and start enjoying the photos:
