There’s no reason not to go to the National Museum of Korea (국립중앙박물관). It’s free, it’s interesting, and it’s just a short taxi ride away from Itaewon, Seoul.

The National Museum of Korea

Seoul, South Korea — Sculptures, paintings, relics and artifacts always come to mind everytime I hear the word “museum”, just like how I pictured the National Museum of Korea. It’s recorded as the largest museum nationwide and keeps about 15,000 precious pieces from the past to modern age.

There is a lot of buzz in Korea around Paul McCartney’s upcoming show in Seoul on Saturday, May 2, 2015. Koreans are big Beatles fans, as I saw at a recent McCartney art exhibit. I braved the queues and crowds to check out the ‘Linda McCartney Retrospective’ at the Daelim Museum in Seoul. The exhibit ran from November 6, 2014 to April 26, 2015.

Winning Gold at the Seoul Olympic Park

I’m finally making my way into Seoul more frequently now. I know, after almost 3 year…what took me so long?!

This time around I made several stops, and one was to the Seoul Olympic Park. The Seoul Olympic Park was where the 1988 Summer Olympic Games was held.

It is not crowded at all, though the roadway around the park seems popular among bikers, walkers, and families picnicking.

The main gate of the park was very massive and equally impressive to see it in person. I vaguely remember images of it on TV way back when the games were actually taking place. It’s an amazing site in person.

The Ulsan Museum: Improving on your Past

The Ulsan Museum at night with dark blue sky and reflection

Years ago, I took some shots of the, then, new museum in Ulsan. Over the following years, I have upgraded my camera and changed how I edit my images. Thus, I have been wanted to go back and retake some of my shots. It is always a good idea to return to places with a new perspective of sorts so that  you can greatly improve your photos.

Preparing for a Korean Goodbye: Don’t leave my friends out of this.

timeisrunningout

Time is running out, so please stop saying, “Yeah, we will have to do that some weekend.” I have exactly 6 weekends left in Korea and each is pretty much full from 8pm on Friday until late Sunday afternoon. I am lucky in that many of my friends in Korea are also leaving close to my departure date. Most of us are in a rush to eat lots of kimchi, find Psy socks to bring home and most importantly soak up each others awesomeness before some depart for homes scattered all over the globe and others remain in Korea. And oh yeah, I still have to find the confidence to make a jjimjilbang date. Umm, a little help please?
