5 ESL Games for All Levels and Ages

As an ESL teacher working with middle school, high school, and adult students, I am always on the lookout for games that are fun and appropriate for a variety of skill levels and ages. Below is a collection of games that I’ve found to meet those standards! If you have any ideas of your own, questions, or feedback, feel free to leave them in the comment section!

A Korean Elementary School Tour

I’m currently in my third year teaching in the EPIK program. Due to cutbacks, I was reallocated from a girl’s middle school to an elementary school in a nearby district. My current school, Guduk Elementary (구덕초등학교), is a moderate to smaller sized school.

The English Department is one Korean teacher…and me! There’s your org chart.

I really enjoy working with these little ones. A very different experience than teaching middle schoolers who just want K-Pop. That’s it. K-Pop.

I thought I would take some time to shoot a video of the innards of the school to share with you all. The narrative in the video will explain the rest. Enjoy!

Exam Week Means Easy-ish Week

This week has been exams week for the students.  Just like last semester, the exams week means two things.  Exausting first half of the week.  Cake the second half.

Sports Day

Sometimes something happens to you and you just can’t bring yourself to write about it straight away. Survivors of earthquakes, tsunamis plus a host of other natural and non-natural disasters often put off speaking of the event until long afterwards, preferring instead to put it to the back of their minds whilst they can lest it become as clear in the daylight hours as it is during sleep.

Cancellations, Evacuations and Apology-Cake

Today has been a strange day. My Thursdays generally alternate between being incredibly quiet, with one first and one second grade lesson (both of which I’ve taught a lot this week already) and incredibly trying, with 3 consecutive third grade lessons (the lesson I haven’t taught yet) plus a 45-minute struggle with the worst behaved of all my classes.
