In Kuala Lumpur

We arrived in Kuala Lumpur this morning after staying in a small airport hotel last night. Taking the airport express train, we were carried from countryside through to suburbs and then briefly through the city until we alighted at KL Sentral, the main train station of the city.

After booking train tickets on to Ipoh for tomorrow, we found a taxi which took us in the central shopping and business area of the city, Bukit Bintang. It is also where we have reserved a room in a quaint guesthouse within sight of a large hotel we had been considering before our friend recommended otherwise. As we had arrived too early to check in, we left our bags with reception and set out to take a short wander around the locale.

Happy Buddha's Birthday Busan

Since it is still Buddha's Birthday for another hour or so, I decided to share with you a few pictures from a couple of the Buddhist temples around Busan.

Right now Korea is covered with beautiful lanterns for the occasion

Part of me wishes I could decorate my house with them, they look so festive.

This one is obviously my favorite.  I just love the bright beautiful colors.

Happy Lunar New Year!

Dear Korea #054 - Accepting Regifts

Dear Korea #054

As the comic says, Happy Lunar New Year!!! I guess this comic would be a little funnier if it wasn’t so sadly true. Ever since I’ve arrived in Korea, all I ever wanted was one of this mega-gift packs of Spam. Sadly, I have yet to receive one. I find it pretty funny how so many people complain when they receive the same thing. I would much prefer canned meat over a box of fruit, which will more than likely spoil in a matter of days. Does that make me a strange person? Whatever, I love my Spam. Makes certain Korean dishes significantly more awesome.

Happy New Year! Yeay 2012!

Feliz año nuevo! 새해복 많이 받으세요!  That Night And so another year has come and gone. The friends and I headed out for some Korean bbq …sooo freaken delicious! I introduced the “Soju Bomb” to some of my friends. What is a soju bomb? It’s a shot of Sprite + a shot of soju topped [...]
