Have a Queer New Year at the Meet Market

Looks like the only queer New Year's Party being advertised is the Meet Market's Party. With an entrance of only 10,000 won (and right next to Hongdae park where I can enjoy a bottle of outdoor makkeoli) this looks like it could be a pretty cheap way to start the New Year.

It may be a bit on the packed side so they are advising people to get their early.

The details:

Another Queer Weekend: Red Party (Korea's Only AIDS Fundraising Party)

For 15000 won this Saturday, you can get a free Bernini and help support shelters for people living with HIV/AIDS at Red Party. Oh, and see some go-go boys.

The party, which takes place at Club 50 right outside of exit 5 of Jongno 3 Ga, starts Saturday night at 10 am and probably will run until way past my bedtime.

Another Queer Weekend: Sky Sleeping Room and Dance Party at Viva

The newly opened Sky is a gay sauna (sleeping room) that has free entrance from the 21st of November to the 27th. You will see it directly outside of exit 7 of Dongdaemun History and Culture Park on the third floor of the Seoul Espresso Building.

Another Queer Weekend: Makjang Party in Jongno, Lecture on Queer Korea, and Film Festival in Busan

The biggest party this weekend will probably be Club 50's 'Mak-jang Party'. With go-go boys, drag queens, and an after party, it looks like a fun night. Entrance is 15,000 won.

Club 50 is located right next to exit 6 of Jongno 3 Ga.

Traveling Seoul LGBT Film Festival Back in Seoul

Argh! I didn't have time to write about queer happenings this weekend, which means I forgot to write about the fact that the Seoul LGBT film festival is back in town. Such a bad blogger... However, you can still make it to the second day. KU Cinema will be screening five films on Sunday, November 9th.

Here is a quick line up of the movies:

Remembering Queer Korea: An International Symposium, Film Festival, and Exhibition

The Transnational Korean Studies Program at University of California San Diego (my current grad school!) is hosting an international symposium, film festival and exhibition titled Remember Queer Korea. Acting Director of the Transnational Korean Studies Program, Todd Henry, is a scholar of modern Korea, currently working on a book on modern queer Korea, and organized the event. There is so much going on during Remembering Queer Korea and if you are in the San Diego area, I highly recommend going.

Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween in Itaewon

How could I forget about the screening of queer favorite Rocky Horror Picture Show tomorrow night and Saturday night in Seoul?

Another Queer Weekend: This Is Halloween and the Queer Film Festival in Jeonju

Seoul has a lot going on this weekend for gay Christmas and it starts tomorrow! If you want to join Gay Friends in Seoul for a screening of Young Frankenstein, join us tomorrow, Thursday, November 30th, at The Hidden Cellar in HBC at 7 pm.

Although I haven't noticed any specific parties lined up for this Friday (Halloween), Homo Hill is likely to be full of people. If you see a purple-haired Glinda the Gay with a handsome Wicked Bitch of the East, say hi to the Kimchi Queen and his boyfriend.

Another Queer Weekend: Queer Films in Cheongju and GFIS meetup in Seoul

It's the weekend!!! Unfortunately, it looks a bit dull in terms of queer events, but I'm sure next weekend will more than make up for it. (Halloween = Gay Christmas)

The traveling Queer Film Festival will be in Cheongju this weekend (pictured above is Sangdangsanseong). Get out of Seoul and see some queer films! A quick schedule:

The Seoul LGBT Film Festival Travels the Country: This Weekend in Gangneung

If you weren't able to attend the LGBT Film Festival in June, you have another chance to see it as it has screenings on Saturday and Sunday across the country. This weekend it is in Gangneung.

As you can see in the poster, this weekend it is in Gangneung, the 25th and 26th of October it will be in Cheongju, the 1st and 2nd of November in Jeonju, the 8th and 9th of November in Seoul, and the 15th and 16th of November in Busan.

For Gangneung:
