Even though Busan is a few degrees warmer than its sister cities to the north, it's still winter here, and occasionally you need to escape the chill. Well, Shinsegae Department Store offers the perfect solution to the dilemma of whether to venture outside or to stay indoors. Shinsegae, the world's largest department store, is also home to a lovely indoor ice rink, located on the 4th floor. It's open from 10:30 AM until 8:00 PM, seven days a week, and it's a popular activity with locals and tourists alike. A two-hour entry costs 7,000 won for adults and 5,000 for children, and skate rental is an additional 3,000 won. You must wear gloves and the rental helmets when skating.

I’ve been in Korea a few months over two years now. I have tried various hobbies and things to keep myself busy. If you know me personally, you know that I am a very active person. I have tried many new things that I have enjoyed, but haven’t stuck with too many of them. Mostly for convience sake.

Fortunately, I have been able to stay with blogging and have increased my latest creative outlet: making videos. I love to be creative, but don’t play an instrument, and frankly don’t have a desire to learn one either. Making videos has proven to be an exciting way to release my creative juices and, most recently, has become an avenue for practicing my Korean skills.

For reasons that have never quite made sense to me, Busan is perhaps best known for the often crowded Haeundae Beach. Maybe being from a country where amazing beaches are a dime a dozen makes me something of a shore-front snob, but I've never really been that enamored of the unremarkable stretch of surf deprived beach surrounded by smoky Korean night clubs and more sleazy love motels than you can shake a stick at.

This one was written over a month ago now in the wake of the ending of my relationship with Fallon. I wasn't sure I wanted to post it, but it seems right that such a significant period in my life be commemorated on my site. I've not edited it at all since I wrote it in early January.

Goodbyes are a common part of life on the road. Differing itineraries and budgets mean that no friendship or relationship on the road can last forever. Eventually you'll have to part ways and experience that bittersweet mix of emotions as you're both grateful for the time you've had with a person and sad that the time was not longer.

For almost two years I was lucky enough to have shared a path with Fallon. Having met at a house party in Gwangju, we bonded over our mutual hatred of night clubs and our mutual closeness to our families.
