The Scar of Jeju Island: The Jeju April 3 Incident

This is a travel diary of a Trazer Hyoseung Allyson W from Jeju Island.

Destination: Gossi cave (Gangwon-do)

Just a few of the beautiful fall colors along the way.My friend Rob from fellow K-blog Roboseyo was kind enough to include me on his recent Gangwon-do trip. After our excursion to Jangneung and nearby Bodeoksa, we found our way to Gossi cave (고씨 동굴, or Go-sshi dong-gul) not too far away. The name comes from Go, the name of one Korean family that stayed here when the Japanese invaded in 1592, and '

Destination: Hwaam Cave (Jeongseong, Gangwon-do)

Author's note: A version of this article appeared in February 2010's Groove Magazine.

To say Hwaam Cave (화암동굴) is out of the way is an understatement. While few natural subterranean structures are located near subway stations or major bus terminals, this one seemed seriously out of the way. Once we arrived and got to appreciate the area, however, the trip was well worth the time.

Destination: Cheongok Cave (Donghae, Gangwon-do)

Cheongok Cave (천곡천연동굴) was discovered in 1991 in the center in downtown Donghae during a development project. Since then it's been turned into a tourist destination as the only cave discovered in an otherwise downtown area. For the geologists out there, it's a limestone cave estimated at 400 to 500 million years old, and extends horizontally for about 1,400 meters.

Destination: Jeju, part 3

Picking up from part 1 and part 2 of the Jeju Christmas trip with Adventure Korea - now time for part 3 (Dec 27 2009).

Although it's the final day of the trip, the third day around Jeju offered as much to see as the rest of the weekend. Breakfast in our hotel, then we loaded the bus and headed to Hallim Park (한림공원):
