Burger Bang in Bukchon

Yesterday my friend and I were supposed to meet at Arario for lunch, and meet at Arario for lunch we did, but about an hour after we had planned to. AWL Fridays are tending, so far, to not really go as planned, because the museum restaurants finish lunch service at 2, and — although the websites and signs out front don’t say so — then take a break. We arrived at 2 on the dot and were promptly turned away.

Luckily, my friend, being the master of Seoul north of the river that she is, knew of a place just around the corner.

A Taste of Home at Two Broz Burgers

Seoul has most certainly come a long way in the past few years in terms of serving up tasty international cuisine. Burger aficionados, in particular, no longer have to suffer their way through bites of patties smothered in mystery sauce or trek across the capital in search of the real deal. There are a number of burger joints in Seoul nowadays, but perhaps the biggest concentration is in the multicultural district of Itaewon. Here, diners have endless options, but for those craving a no-nonsense, unpretentious burger before a night out on the town or a quick bite during lunch, Two Broz is a great option.

Hades Cafe - Brunch & Wine

I had heard some talk of Hades Cafe from several people in my social network but not any feedback. So I decided to venture on over the other day. It is located across the street from Lotte Department store (in the same neighborhood as Daejeon's popular House Grill). (Map Below)

Wolfhound Irish Bar, Haeundae

The new Wolfhound Bar opened in Busan last Saturday and already seems to be a hit with the local expats. We were at the opening night and it looks like the've done a pretty good job. A big long bar, everything is nice and new and clean (unlike some other expat bars I could mention....), and there's plenty of space and seating. No pool table or darts though.

Breeze Burns, Nampo Dong

The popular burger joint Breeze Burns has just opened a branch in Nampo-dong, just down the street from the new Lotte Department store.

Suddenly, Nampo-dong has a bunch of great western food options. Not only do we have Breeze Burns now, but in the new Lotte Department store there is also a Quiznos, Auntie Annie's Pretzels and Irish Potato (Yes, Irish Potato).
