Wow it is hard to believe that it has been almost two months in China. Soon it will be Spring Festival here. Spring Festival is China's biggest holiday. I am looking forward to the time off and checking out some things. Travel may be impossible during this time as everyone is travelling in China at that time. I will check out some more things in Shanghai and possibly buy a motorcycle. Ok more than likely I will buy a motorcycle, as long as it stops snowing.
People were always surprised to find out that I am Vegetarian. They thought it must be so difficult to be in Korea. I have been Vegetarian for almost twenty years, so I am used to having less dining options. There are some great vegetarian options in Korea.
The last week has been super busy. I am about to finish my job and move. So I am selling stuff and packing. We also shot a new video that is awesome but will take a bit more time to edit. So I did another Life in South Korea vlog this week. It has been awhile since I made one of these videos. I will make some more of them over the next few weeks.
This was the last ride of the year. It has been pretty cold at night. I love to ride; it's one of my biggest passions in life. This riding season was pretty good. I rode over 12,000 km. I figure I have ridden about 30,000km in Korea now. Korea is a great place to ride. The country is small so it is easy to get around. The smaller highways are used less, so the traffic is usually light. This season I got to redo some of my favorite rides. So for the final ride we decided to just ride and not stop too much. We still ended up riding a bit at night. It was cold but bearable. When we started to come back the sun was starting to set. The sky was red. Everything felt great and connected. That is why I love to ride. Later as it was dark we rode past some pagodas that were lit up. We were down a desolate stretch of highway. An hour later we were back in Busan. It felt good to get back in the city.
I have wanted to go to Jirisan for awhile now. I had marked it as a trip tp do for awhile. My original plan was to stay a night out there and make it a weekend. That did not workout, but we managed to get to the mountain by just after 1pm. We has stopped in Uiryeong for lunch. there was an election going on. So there was canditates everywhere, people dancing and the cow. Later we saw the cow in the market, which is the opening of the video. The hiking was great. After leaving Jirisan we rode to Jinju. On the way I stupidly ran out of gas. We had to go back and get some gas. From Jinju we got back to Busan in an hour and a half. We really rode fast. It is about 120km. With a couple spot through some towns. We go lucky with some green lights and only hit one traffic jam, which lasted for about 5km. I also know a shortcut. There is a bridge that lets you cut around Masan. You are not actually supposed to go over by motorcycle.
I have travelled to a lot of places in South Korea. So now I am tending to go to more and more lesser know spots. Once again I had a great day. The last few trip have felt funner than most of the trips I have done. The video is also getting much better. I went back and looked at some older video the other day. I could see points where the videos have gotten much better. I feel that this another one of those times. I think this last video is a real jump up. I also got some recognition for my latest video and was names September filmmaker of the month at Trip Films. The site is a great place to check out travel video. Also it has me on the front page so it must be pretty fantastic! http://www.tripfilms.com/ Hope you enjoy the video!
I have done a lot of motorcycle trips in Korea and have done almost every possibe day trip from Busan. So when I when I was headed to Goseong I was not that excited. I knew there was dinosur museums there, but beyond that there didn't seem like much. Instead I was absolutely blown away. The ride was amazing. Maybe the best ride I have done so far. There were great winding roads along the ocean. The views were amazing. We spent most of the day in Sangjogam County Park. The dinosaur museum is there. It is also some of the most beautiful scenery I have experienced in Korea. It was a great day!
Well I made my goal of going around Jeju. Even if it meant getting completely soaked. I did miss out on some things that I would like to have seen because of the rain but am still glad I made the trip over. I had heard a lot of hype about Jeju before I went. I can't say it lived up to those expectations. It is definitely nice, but still very similar to most of Korea. There is an unusual amount of museums on Jeju. Almost one for anything you can think of. I checked out all the sex ones. They were definitely worth checking out. Seeing Jeju my motorcycle is definitely the way to go. It appears there are busses that go all the way around but it looks like you could spend a lot of time walking, as things can be a little ways from the bus stops. The traffic is also pretty light compared to bigger cities in Korea, which makes the riding enjoyable.
